A very special concert to support the village of Bellur, Mr Iyengar’s birthplace.
Prakruti Dutta is a young talented vocalist from Calcutta, already known for her gifted recitals. Trained under her mother Smt Suchita Dutta and then with the great master of Khayal Pt. A Kanan and continuing to learn the rigourous style of Dhrupad with the renowned Ustad Zia Farriduddin Dagar.
It is very rare to have a female vocalist highly trained in both styles of Khayal and the rare Dhrupad style. This concert is an opportunity to hear both styles.
Prakruti will be accompanied on Pakhawaj and Tabla by Vijay Kangutkar, himself a student of the great Guru Pt Taranath Rao
